  • Allison Lane

    Director

    Allison is from Vista, California and graduated from Palomar College with an AA in Early Childhood and then attended UCI for Montessori training. She then graduated from Warner Pacific with a degree in Human Development. She likes to spend time outside gardening and playing with her dog. She has been married for 32 years and has two children. She has worked with kids for over 30 years, as both a teacher and school director. Her favorite thing about teaching is spending time with kids and building relationships with them. 

  • Sarah Soderberg

    Assistant Director and Lead Panda Teacher

    Sarah enjoys browsing for antiques and going to thrift stores. She also loves to cook and host holiday dinners for her family. She has been married to her husband, Ed, for 39 years and has 3 children and 1 grandson. She has worked with children for over 25 years and her favorite thing about it is getting to know each student and their families. 

  • Noelle Schrein

    Assistant to the Director / Office Administrator

    Noelle grew up in Vista, CA. She loves photography, camping, going to the gym, road trips with family, and being a grandma. She has been married for 32 years and has a son named Josh and a daughter named Shelby. She has been at VVDS since 2018 working in the office and covering for both the teachers and cook when neccessary. Prior to VVDS she spent 20 years working for Farmers Ins. Claims Dept. and 9 years at Examworks.  

  • Ann Vermillion

    Assistant to the Director / Bookkeeper

    Ann grew up in Oregon and attended college in Southern California. She first started working with kids in 6th grade and has worked with kids on and off ever since. She has worked at VVDS for many years as the Assistant to the Director.

  • Shelby Schrein

    Lead Wobbler Teacher

    Shelby grew up in Clackamas and attended Clackamas High School. Her family consists of her husband Nathan, her daughter Wynree, her Cat Shisui, and her dog Rigby. She has been working with children for over 5 years and her favorite thing about teaching is watching them learn and grow. 

  • Sara Vermillion

    Wobbler Teacher

    Sara loves photography and video games. She has 3 children who grew up attending Valley View and she has a pet bearded dragon named, Chimney. 

  • Loata McGaughey

    Lead Toddler Teacher

    Loata grew up and attended school in Samoa. She likes to hike, kayak, swim, and go camping. She has 4 kids and 1 granddaughter (and a grandson on the way!). She has worked in education for 10 years, 7 being here at Valley View. Her favorite part about teaching is playing with the kids.

    Toddler Teacher

    Nancy grew up in Milwaukie, Oregon. She loves to go to plays and concerts in the park. She has worked with children since she was 19 years old. Her favorite thing about teaching is watching the kids grow. Her and her sister Vicki have worked for VVDS for over 30 years.

  • Kaitlin Elwell

    Panda Teacher

    Kaitlin grew up in Clackamas, Oregon. She loves guitar, photography, hiking, kayaking, snowboarding, and being outdoors. She has worked with children for 5 years and is currently going to school for Early Education. Her favorite thing about teaching is watching the kids discover new things and enjoys building close relationships with her students. 

  • Tylie Catherman

    Panda Teacher

    Tylie loves to hike, paint, sing, go on long drives, and studying religion and astronomy. her family consists of her parents, 2 older brothers, and 1 younger sister. She has worked with kids since she was 13 and favorite part is seeing the kids progress and growth. 

  • Mackenzie Vermillion

    Lead 3 Bee's Teacher

    Mackenzie attended VVDS through kindergarten and graduated from Canby High School with ECC in Early Education. She loves arts and crafts and going on adventures with her daughter. She has worked with children for over 7 years starting out as a volunteer at VVDS her sophomore year of high school. Her favorite thing about teaching is everyday is a new day with new possibilities. She also loves helping her students feel loved and appreciated the moment they walk into the classroom. 

  • Colleen Conner

    3 Bee's Teacher

    Colleen grew up in North Portland and Clackamas. Her favorite things to do are hang out with her grandkids and go for walks with her dog, Trixie. She has 2 children and 2 grandkids. She has worked in education for over 10 years and her favorite part is teaching children new things seeing their smiles!

  • Rebekah Gillaspie

    Lead Cub Teacher

    Rebekah grew up in Chicago before living all over the East Coast and eventually moving to Oregon. She enjoys cooking, baking, reading, nature photography, hiking, and getting coffee with friends. Her family consists of her husband, David, and her cat, Annie. She has worked in a preschool setting for 3 years and loves watching her students personalities and talents develop. 

  • Vicki Erikson

    Cub Teacher

    Vicki grew up in Jennings Lodge, Oregon and attended Oregon City High School. Her favorite hobbies include going for walks, swimming, and participating in activities with her church group. She has worked at Valley View for over 30 years and says that she feels, "very blessed" to be at this school. Her favorite thing about teaching is getting to see how kids learn and develop leadership skills. 

  • Kaela

    Lead Teddy Bear Teacher

    Kaela grew up in Northern California and received a bachelor's degree in Intercultural Studies from William Jessup University. She loves to paint, craft, have dance parties with her two kids, and watch movies with her husband. Kaela has worked with kids throughout her life in a variety of settings. Her favorite thing about teaching is seeing kids feel loved and believed in. 

  • Josie Keller

    Teddy Bear Teacher

    Josie grew up in a small town called Pinehurst, Idaho. She enjoys doing different crafts, beading, painting, and reading mystery books. She has been married for over 35 years and has 1 daughter. She has worked with children for over 30 years. Her favorite part about teaching is seeing the kids come into school with enthusiasm and excitement. 

  • Sue

    Teddy Bear Teacher

    Sue is from Texas but has lived in Portland for 50 years. She loves ballroom dancing, scrapbooking, reading, working in her yard, and playing with her fur babies. She is a proud mom of a 34 year old son. She has been involved in scouts and other ministers through the years and has taught preschool for the past 6 years. Her favorite thing about teaching is seeing how proud the kids are when they learn something new. 

  • Kayla

    Floater Teacher

    Kayla was born and raised in Portland and attended Portland Bible College. She enjoys reading, writing, yoga, puzzles, and spending time with her friends and family. Her family consists of her husband and pet pug, Bubbles. She is also very close with her parents and younger brother. She started volunteering with a children's ministry in 2008 and starting working professionally with children in 2014. Her favorite thing about teaching is having the opportunity to shape the future by showing kindness through her teaching.

    Floater Teacher

    Alexandria grew up in Tillamock, Oregon. She is currently attending Warner Pacific University and set to graduate in 2023. She loves to read, paint, and spend time with friends and family. her favorite thing about teaching is showing kids new things and just being an example for them.

    Floater Teacher

    Shealah was born and raised in Portland and attended Jefferson High School. She loves to go on hikes with her dog, cook, paint, and read. She has been working with children for 2 years and her favorite part is watching them learn and building relationships. 

  • Grace Lim

    Afternoon Floater

    Grace grew up in Seoul Korea and moved to the US. She graduated from California State University with Psych degree. She likes reading, singing, going for walks, spending time with family, and attending worship service. She has been married for 22 years and has 2 children, a son who is 20 and a daughter who is 18. She has worked with children for 10 years and her favorite part is spending quality time with them and having a positive influence on them.

  • Gracie Moffitt

    Floater Teacher

    Gracie grew up in Happy Valley and attended Clackamas High School. She is now attending Clackamas Community College. She enjoys dancing and has been doing classical ballet for over 14 years. She has worked with kids for over 6 years and her favorite part is watching them express themselves and learn new things.
